I anticipated Wall-E since I first saw the advertisement and then the trailer. I waited for Mee to watch this movie with me but she was very busy especially during weekends until the third week of December where she did not work on Sunday. Finally, we watched it together and thought it was a good movie. I believe kids would enjoy it most even though we enjoyed it as well.

Wall-E are machines that compressed the Earth’s garbage. However, the Earth’s garbage problem has become unmanageable until there are no rooms to accommodate the garbage. Humans then abandon the Earth to live in the space. Well, the word abandon is not quite suitable because the humans have made a promise to themselves that when the garbage problem is resolved, they will return. Hence, they treat their trip to space as a vacation. Sadly, their vacation is on and going for hundreds of years since.

Wall-E project is classified as failed but there is still one faithful little Wall-E that continues to work and work and work even though the other machines have malfunctioned. Wall-E works from day to night and charges itself through solar power in the morning. Each day, Wall-E separates and categorizes some items from the garbage and brings them back to a big Wall-E.

One day, Wall-E discovers a plant while rummaging through the garbage. It does not know what it is but hence, it takes it back to its resting place. As years pass by, humans send machines to Earth in search for living things. The plant which is discovered by Wall-E is detected by one of the machines. However, unknown to Wall-e about the purposes of the machines, it falls in love with one of the machines.

The Story
I thought Wall-E was very cute and innocent. It looked a little bit boring because the machines did not talk and neither did Wall-E. Somehow, I laughed in some parts of the movie. It was easy to understand through the expression of Wall-E and the other machines even though there were not many conversations throughout the first part of the movie.

Effects
Needless to say, Wall-E was all about effects and CGI. There was nothing particular or special about it. As always, Disney is great in creating cartoon characters and then put the bits and pieces together as a one whole movie.

Verdict
Wall-E was not a big hit, I believe. Overall, it was just another cartoon. It was not scary enough to make people think or feel what will happen in the future. A lot of people are not aware of the garbage that is piling up everyday. Sooner or later, we will be left no space to stand or live. In addition, there are still many of us who are either lack of knowledge on recycling or rather not to know anything about recycling especially third world countries. As most Wall-E fans would probably be young children, it would be great if the message was sent across.

Anyway, Wall-E was entertaining to watch as a whole movie or as a little machine that worked everyday.
