It has been a while since netbooks appeared in the market. I believe Asus has made the most of it since Asus is the pioneer in the netbooks production. Since then, almost all the computing brands that you can think of are already producing netbooks. Erm, except Apple. Sony is the latest brand entering the netbook market with its Sony VAIO P series while a lot others like Dell, Samsung, Asus, MSI and Acer are refining their current netbooks to keep them in the race.

I thought Sony VAIO P Series is a great looking little machine. Everytime a new netbook was introduced, I kept wondering if I had made the right choice in purchasing the Samsung NC10. The question that followed was, ‘Should I wait a little bit longer?’ Well, NO. Overall, Samsung NC10 is a great machine.

I must admit that the design of Sony VAIO series is fabulous. I love the keyboard and the trackpoint. The screen resolution is 1,600 X 768 in a 8” screen. That is a lovely screen resolution but I am not keen on the 8” screen.

Sony VAIO P series has the common features like in other netbooks in the market. Nothing special in terms of specifications and the battery life is quite standard with 4 hours in a standard battery as claimed.

Gosh, I just cannot keep my focus away from the keyboard. I just love it. Sony VAIO P series is so sleek and sexy. I bet anyone will try to catch a glimpse at it if you were to use it in train, coffee shop and anywhere else. However, the price is a bit high but Sony does live up to its expectation with the introduction of Sony VAIO P Series.

As much as I like about Apple products; iPods, OS X, Macbook products and iPhone, even though I own none of those, I believe that it is a waste of time in creating Macbook Wheel. Why are they not producing something like the netbook which I believe netbook will have a better market than Macbook Wheel?

Design
The Wheel is derived from the iPod wheel and it is certainly very responsive. However, typing without a proper keyboard is usually uncomfortable and less efficient. Even the invention of infrared keyboard which enables users to type on any surfaces could not ultimately replaces the physical keyboards that we use daily.

Replacing the normal keyboard with the Wheel makes thing even complicated. No doubt that it will be fairly easy to navigate through files and programs using the Wheel. But the Wheel and on-screen keyboard just do not work well at all in this occasion. The Wheel can only replace the mouse.

The Battery
Looking at the video, the battery power dropped two percent in less than 10 seconds. To calculate the battery life based on 2% in 10 seconds, Macbook Wheel only last about 8 minutes compared to the stated 20 minutes. I wonder the purpose of Apple creating Macbook Wheel.

Verdict
I never use the Macbook Wheel before and this article is about my very own opinion. Who need a laptop without keyboard and only last 20 minutes? An 8GB version cost around $2599. Wouldn’t it be better off using a touch screen version or handwriting recognition pad? From the video embedded, I could see a lady trying on Macbook Wheel with frustration.

I have not been updating this blog since Christmas. I have copied the pictures of my FM Transmitter but I have not uploaded them to the server. By the way, my sister, Mee and I only watched a few movies while at my sister’s place. Hmmm … I could blame it on the busy shopping spree schedule. We went out for shopping almost every day after Christmas. Even New Year’s day. I felt impressive after I came back from my sister’s place. First, the amount of shops we shopped. Second, the amount we spent and lastly, the places we visited.

Well, among the movies that we watched were quite old; Jurassic Park II and II, Fast and Furious, Two Fast Two Furious, Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, Iron Man. The latest movie that we watched was Babylon AD, starring Vin Diesel. I thought it would be one of the great movies of the year but sadly, it was a 90 minutes movie that left us clueless at the end. We could have spent our time better on other movies.

Among the movies that I am waiting to watch are Twilight, Transporter 3, The Spirit and The Day the Earth Stood Still. There are more movies coming soon but these are the ones that I can think of at the moment.
